While you may have determined that it’s time to purchase cable management products, it may appear daunting to figure out which ones to purchase. Luckily, we’re here to help guide you toward choosing the right products that will potentially make your house safer and certainly more organized again.

First, Consider Where You Need to Organize

There are various ways to organize cables and many options exist. So, what are some of the ways you can manage them?

Under-Desk Cable Management

It’s easy to simply place cords wherever they will go under a desk, but if you have many wires things can easily get disorganized. Placing the surge protector in the correct place is will assist you most with cable management under your desk. It works well for organization to put it beneath the desk. Out of view behind the desktop is the easiest placement to hide the cables from view and tripping hazards.

Sometimes there are cable management features built into the desk. If you don’t enjoy doing much setup, then this will work the best. However, most desks do not have cable management systems built in like this. In that case, you can add your features. Some things you can do include:

  • Incorporate a Standing Desk Cable Compartment - simply place them on the surface on the underside of the desk.
  • You can drill holes into the desk, and add a grommet to make it appear nicer. However, keep in mind that you could cause damage to the desk if the drilling doesn’t go as planned.
  • To save some space, you can mount monitors on the wall of the desk.

Behind the Television

Too many cables around the tv can be distracting, which is why cable management is beneficial. Proper cable management will not only be more attractive but also make this system have smoother maintenance.

Some items to look for to make cable maintenance easier for around the television are:

  • Cable ties - If you have too many wires behind the TV, a cheap and easy way to organize them are cable ties.
  • Labeling - Printable tags can make it easier to organize your cables as well.
  • Add HDMI ports or power sockets behind the television - If your tv is mounted on a wall, then your primary concern is probably to ensure the cables aren’t hanging below. You can use a rectangular cable raceway to make things simpler.
  • Mount the power strip - Doing this will help get cables off of the floor.
