Tablet Buyer’s Guide

Tablets come with many different systems and operations. You might not be sure how to choose which one to buy. This buyer’s guide has all the details you need to make an informed decision before buying your tablet.

Make sure you consider all these features before getting a tablet. Tablets are investments and you want to make sure you are putting your money in the right place. Depending on why you are getting a tablet, some of these features might prove more crucial than others.

Display

Display is often the most important feature to look for because you will always be looking at the screen of the tablet. The display is determined by the size of the tablet and the resolution. You might also want to consider maximum and minimum brightness.

You should also check out the viewing angles and the coating of the screen. Resolution really matters if you want to watch Full HD. You will need to get a tablet with 1080p. A minimum of 720p is important because otherwise, you might find the screen is dull and viewing is not fun.

If you use the tablet outside or work outside, you want to make sure you get a tablet with full brightness to make it easier to see the screen. Coatings should also be scratch resistant and durable.

Operating System

You can find tablets with more operating systems compared to computers and phones. Each operating system has pros and cons. Windows is the best operating system if you are used to PCs and like the layout.

IOS operating systems are better for that who want to steam and game as the system is often faster. iPads are mostly the most expensive tablet option though and might not be in everyone’s price range.

Android is the best operating system if you want to be able to multitask. Android tablets are easier for people to use if they are already used to the Android systems and have Android phones.

Budget

Tablets come at many different prices. There are some less than $100 while others cost more than $2,000. With such a wide range, there is a tablet for everyone. Of course with all devices, the ones in the higher price range have more features and better qualities.

Don’t dismiss the cheaper tablets though or feel like you need to buy a top-dollar one. Some of the cheaper ones have great qualities especially if you only want them for streaming or playing.

If you are using the tablet as a way to work or play to study, you might need to get a higher-dollar one.

Connectivity and Network

A tablet always needs to be able to connect to the internet easily as this is the whole point of owning one. There are two main kinds of tablets in terms of the internet. The first one is WIFI and the other is cellular or wireless.

WIFI is well known. You can use the tablet to connect to WIFI at home, in hotels, or in airports. Make sure to get a tablet that can support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Cellular tablets are more complicated because you need to choose a carrier and contract rates. They are better for some people who need the internet constantly though and might not have time to look for places that offer WIFI.

Battery Life

If you are traveling with a tablet or using the tablet for work, you want to make sure it has long battery life. The exact battery life depends on what platforms you use as some can drain the battery faster than others.

Battery life might be shorter if you stream, use editing software, or play video games. Make sure to get the longest battery life you can though so you don’t have to always search for chargers.

Final Thoughts

Tablets are a great thing to own because they are easy to travel with and are so versatile. While many people just own tablets for fun or for entertaining the kids, some tablets are so advanced they can operate better and faster than a computer.

No matter which tablet you choose, make sure to get one with all the features above so you know you aren’t wasting your money.
